GRAND
KNIGHT'S MESSAGE Brothers
in Christ,It has been a pleasure serving you this past year. As I begin the
start of my second term, I want to thank you for your confidence in me. There
is so much to be done. The building needs repainting, the front doors need to
be replaced, and the rosary garden needs to be rebuilt. I would ask each brother
knight to try and be available for worker parties when they are requested. If
we all pitch in a heavy load can be made quite light. I invite all brother
knights to take an active role in running the council. Please attend our
meetings. We would love to have you present. I respect your rights and
opinions. You may have a better idea or solution, I welcome it. Your Brother in
Christ, Larry Everett
4th DEGREE NEWS Dear
Brothers: Thanks for letting me serve you for the past two years. We did
not get the things accomplished that I would like to have done, but with the
Lords help maybe we will be able to get the Forth Degree moving again. Please
try and attend as many of our meetings as possible, so you will be able to give
our new Faithful Navigator the support he deserves. For without you, the
members there is no 4th Degree Thanks again for your past support. Look forward
to seeing you at the next meeting. Yours in Christ, Charlie Underwood
LADIES AUXILIARY NEWS
First, I would like to thank you once more for electing me to serve as your
president for the next year. I believe that the Ladies Auxiliary of Council
#1583 is a wonderful organization that not only supports the K.C.’s but also
does great charitable works for the Church, youth and community. However,
neither I, nor my officers can do these alone. It takes all of us together as
an Auxiliary to make things happen. I hope you will resolve to become more
involved with your Auxiliary in the coming year. Many new ideas come from
ladies like you. The more new ideas we have, the more successful we will be,
and the more we can support our K.C.’s, Church, youth and community.
Speaking of new ideas, several were mentioned at the June meeting. The first is
to support the Gulfport Police Department with their “Teddy Bear” program. The
police use the bears when they have cases dealing with children. We ask that
you bring a Teddy Bear to the July meeting. We will donate those bears to the
Police Department. Another new idea was to have a “Ladies Tea” to promote
membership. I have seen all of us get “dirty” in the kitchen helping the
Knights. Now, let us show off our best and enjoy our friendships made through
this organization with an afternoon Tea. This is a beautiful way to introduce
other ladies to the organization. We hope to have this organized by September.
Any suggestions will be welcomed! (Come to the next meeting!) We will
continue to support the Harrison County Youth Shelter. Millie will be shopping
for fresh fruit and snacks and bringing them to the Shelter. Also, it is
“School Supply” time again. Please be generous as much as you can. The
children always need paper, notebooks, pocket folders, pencils, pens, crayons,
colored markers, glue, etc. Bring your donation to the July meeting.
Donations to the St. John CYO will also be on the top of our list this year. A
donation was made to help the CYO attend Steubenville South in June. We need to
continue to pray for our youth. Since everyone has been so busy this summer,
we have cancelled “Donut Sunday” until August. “Bowling Sundays” will also
resume in September. Elections were held at the June meeting. Your officers
for the 2005-2006 year are as follows: Rita Bailey, presidentStacy Wadsworth,
vice president Candy Hurst, secretary Cindy Hahn, treasurer Marcia Flagg,
parliamentarian The Auxiliary also needs volunteers to take over the Scrap
Book and Bingo Chair. I hope some of you will consider these projects. Also I
would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Verby Rouse for all of her
time that she spent as one of our “Telephone Ladies.” She has resigned her
position and Stacy Wadsworth will take on that position. Thank you Mrs. Verby
and Stacy! Our next meeting is July 19th at 6:30p.m. Hope to see
all of you there! Your sister in Christ, Rita Bailey, president Happy
Birthday: Anette Seymour – 13th, EmiLu Farve – 14th, Sheila Poolson –
17th, Verda Lee Seymour – 17th.
